Parkinson’s Disease With Dementia

Progression of Parkinson's Disease

As Parkinson’s disease progresses, changes in memory, concentration, and mental functions become increasingly problematic. This cognitive impairment is common and symptoms become more apparent with time. As of now, there are no treatments to help.

Recently, researchers have explored whether sensitizing the chemical receptors can help make cognitive functions better for those with Parkinson’s disease dementia. This research is being conducted due to the finding that those with Parkinson’s disease suffer from a naturally occurring brain chemical deficiency.

The Northwest Clinical Research Center has the opportunity to evaluate this question with a novel medication. However, answering these questions cannot be done without research volunteers.

Study Medication

All patients enrolled in the study will continue to take their medications for Parkinson’s disease as well as medications to manage other health conditions. The study medication is given in addition to these treatments.
